What is Decade One, and who is it for?
Decade One is a professional development and peer support program designed for equine veterinarians looking to expand their business acumen and find a supportive community of like-minded peers. It offers structured mentorship, business education, and community-building opportunities to help equine veterinarians thrive both personally and professionally.
How long does the program last, and what is the cost?
Each Decade One group commits to a three-year journey, fostering deep connections and sustained professional growth. As of 2025, the annual tuition is $750. Notably, there are no onboarding fees, and scholarships covering half the tuition have been available through the AAEP’s partnership. See HERE for more details regarding applications.
What does the program include?
The program features a blend of self-paced learning and collaborative engagement:

Monthly Virtual Meetings: Facilitated Zoom sessions to discuss challenges, share successes, and review educational content.

Online Learning Library: Access to self-paced video modules and workbooks covering essential business topics, each broken into 30–60-minute segments.

Annual In-Person Meeting: Held in conjunction with the Sustainability in Equine Practice Seminars, providing personalized group time and broader networking opportunities.

Who facilitates the program?
Groups are led by experienced equine veterinarians who are alumni of the program, ensuring relatable guidance and mentorship. Dr. Amy Grice, VMD, MBA, the founder of Decade One, remains actively involved, providing the majority of the business content. Starting in 2025, new groups will be co-facilitated by Drs. Stacey Cordivano, Misty Gray, and Kelly Zeytoonian.

Since its inception in 2015, Decade One has demonstrated significant positive outcomes. Notably, 93% of its members continue to practice in the equine veterinary field, highlighting the program's effectiveness in supporting career sustainability and satisfaction.
